Batam Shopping: Batam boasts several shopping malls the two largest and most popular are Nagoya Hills in Nagoya itself and Mega Mall located at Batam Centre close to the ferry terminal. Bargains are also to be had at DC Mall, Batam City Square (BCS) and Lucky Plaza.
The suspension bridge (Jembatan) at Barelang is a popular destination. There are actually 6 bridges which connect various small islands to make up what is colloquially known as Batam but is actually Barelang (Batam - Rempang - Galang). The main suspension bridge is popular destination for sunset watchers. There are also lots of sea food restaurants located in this area serving fresh catch of the day.

The Vietnam camp or Village is what used to be a Vietnamese boat peoples settlement until around 1996. The camp has been left virtually untouched since it was abandoned. Also on the site are churches and the famous Quan An Tu Monastery, built in 1984. Located along the Barelang trail, the camp is amongst the popular Batam tourist destinations.

The Mesjid Raya or Grand Mosque in Batam is a stunning example of modern architecture. It's a focul point for many muslims who visit Batamand the locals are very proud of their famous place of worship. Located next to Maga mall shopping centre it is particularly impressive when lit up at night.

Ocarina / Coastarina : A theme park for place for fun and entertainment. There is a large ferris wheel and many other attractions including a water park, 3d movie theater inside, along with several food-court style restaurants of course as there is a beach one can sunbathe of course.

Batam's Mata Kucing Nature reserve offers a rare chance to see wildlife in its natural habitat, monkeys, squirrels and lots of birdlife free in their home environment.

Most visitors enjoy taking a walk to the outdoor swimming pools where there's more natural aqautic wildlife to be seen such as giant fish and aligators.

Tourists seeking a beach in Batam can choose from popular resort type beaches or for the real Indonesian experience mix in with the locals.

The most popular dedicated tourist beach is a Nongsa Point Marina. There's Kampung Nongsa Beach located close to the traditional village of the Malay people.
 Marina Beach Batam is located at Tanjung Riau more commonly known as Water Front City attractions here include Banana boat, Boat, Para-sailing, Jet sky,
Melur Beach is located close to the Vietnamese camp along the Barelang trail. Locals use this beach it has white sand and is ideal for sunbathing and swimming.

By far the most popular location at night in Batam is the food courts. Windsor is probably the most popular but Harbour Bay A1 and Nagoya Food courts also command strong patronage. Smaller beer gardens gardens are also available.
Batam nightlife attracts many people to the island. There are many pubs to choose from in Nagoya as well as nightclubs for those wishing to dance the night away.

Batam Golf courses probably offer the best value of any where in the world. There are very places left where golfers can get 18 holes with a caddy and a buggy for $50. We of course favour Indah Puri with its chamiponship design but value is also to be had at Tering Bay, Southlinks, Batam Hills, Palm Springs and the soon to be completed Sukajadi course.
Batam Island really is the ideal getaway. Batam shopping offers fabulous bargains at the many large shopping malls in nagoya and Batam Centre or why not take in the local markets and stalls where your bargaining powers can save you even more
